Should, must, ought

Thinking trap quiz

What’s going on:

This is when you tell yourself that you “should”, “ought”, or “must” do something, feel something or behave in a certain way. However, this is not how you actually feel and it goes against what you really want to do. It’s thinking about what you should be doing, rather than being true to yourself.

Example:

I should never make mistakes.

Replace with:

I will make mistakes from time to time and that’s OK. (Instead of the word “should”, use the word “could” or “I will” or “I choose to”…)
